REGULAR EXAMINATION (CHECK UP)

Our team recommends regular assessment of your overall oral health to help identify any problem areas early. Timely intervention of a problem with a simple procedure can lead to less complex treatment in the future.

ORAL HEALTH AND GUM HEALTH TREATMENT

Many adults have some form of gum disease. This can range from simple gum inflammation (Gingivitis) to a more severe form which results in damage to the bone that supports the teeth (Periodontitis). Left untreated this can potentially lead to the loss of teeth. There is also evidence to suggest that it can influence our overall health.

Gum disease is caused by a film of bacteria on the teeth called plaque. Plaque can harden to become calculus or tartar. Tartar can only be removed by a professional scale and clean. In moderate to severe gum disease it may become necessary to undergo scale and root planing  which is a deeper cleaning underneath the gums.

Our hygiene department can assess and determine the appropriate treatment to return your gum tissues to health.

They can also help you to develop a plan for regular care to ensure that you will have a better chance of keeping your teeth for life.

FISSURE SEALANTS

BITE SPLINTS

Bite or occlusal splints are a custom made appliance. They are designed to help prevent muscle/jaw pain from clenching or to minimise the damage to teeth caused by grinding. Clenching or grinding may occur whilst you are sleeping, making you unaware that you are doing it. Night time grinding can be associated with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). Left untreated, OSA  may impact on other aspects of your general health.

MOUTH GUARDS

Mouth guards are a custom made appliance. They are designed to help prevent injury to your teeth whilst playing sport.
