Frequently Asked Questions

Note: Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

Is Clarinda Clinic's Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) accredited?

Yes. Clarinda Clinic is QIP-accredited, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining recognised standards of patient care, safety, and ongoing quality improvement within the practice.

What options are available for anxious patients?

We understand that visiting the dentist can feel stressful for some people. For patients who require additional support, general anaesthetic treatment can be arranged off-site when appropriate.

What technologies are available at your clinic?

Our clinic uses modern dental technology to support diagnosis and treatment planning, including an OPG machine and a 3D scanner.

Is parking available at the clinic?

Yes, convenient on-site parking is available. Patients can also access additional parking at the rear of the clinic via the nearby service road.

How do you help patients feel comfortable during their visit?

We aim to create a supportive and welcoming environment for patients during their visit. Patients can enjoy coffee, tea, or water on request, along with ceiling-mounted TVs, warm blankets, neck pillows, and gentle background music to help them feel comfortable throughout their visit.

Are you affiliated with any professional organisations?

Yes. Our team is affiliated with the Australian Dental Association (ADA), the Savvy Dentist Community, and has completed the RipeGlobal Fellowship in Restorative Dentistry.

Do you accept government dental vouchers or programs?

Yes. We accept several programs, including the Victorian General Dental Scheme, Victorian Emergency Dental Scheme, Veterans’ Affairs, and the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, credit cards, and HICAPS for convenient on-the-spot health fund claiming.

How often should I visit the dentist for a check-up?

Many people are advised to visit the dentist every six months for a routine check-up and clean. Regular visits enable your dentist to examine your teeth and gums, monitor oral health changes, and provide preventive care. However, the recommended interval may vary depending on your oral health needs and your dentist’s advice.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first appointment usually includes a discussion about your dental history, an examination of your teeth and gums, and any recommended imaging or preventive care based on your individual needs.

Are dental X-rays necessary during treatment?

Dental X-rays may be recommended to help your dentist examine areas that are not visible during a routine check-up. They can assist in identifying concerns such as tooth decay, bone changes, or other conditions that may require dental treatment.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency?

If you experience sudden tooth pain, swelling, or dental trauma, contact our dental clinic as soon as possible. Our team will advise you on the next available appointment and the appropriate next steps.

What are clear aligners used for?

Clear aligners are orthodontic appliances designed to gradually shift teeth into better alignment. They are customised trays that fit over the teeth and are worn according to a planned treatment schedule.

How do dental implants work?

Dental implants are an approach used to replace missing teeth. A small titanium post is positioned in the jawbone to support a replacement tooth, crown, bridge, or denture based on the patient’s individual needs.

When are dentures recommended?

Dentures may be recommended when several teeth or all teeth are missing. They are removable appliances designed to help restore chewing function and support daily oral activities.

When are dental fillings recommended?

Dental fillings may be used to repair teeth affected by decay or minor damage. The filling material helps restore the tooth’s shape and supports its normal function.

The annoying thing about the place is trying to stay awake because its so comfortable. thankfully they all have a good sense of humor and are friendly. otherwise they would have to pry my mouth open as i sleep. have not gone to see you guys in a few years but i will be returning shortly.
